Haiti Communitere is not your typical disaster relief organization, and our Volunteer Program is a reflection of that.
We don’t run massive demolition or building projects. We work to develop and foster an individual’s ideas and passion to help them develop their own project either as part of Haiti Communitere or as a partner organization/individual.
We encourage new volunteers to spend time getting to know and understand the country they have just arrived in and discover where they feel they can best place themselves to get the most out of their time with us and here in Haiti. Many of the projects that have the greatest success are the ones that are developed in-country.
Volunteers cover their own transportation and per diem costs, which are used to cover operating costs and employ several Haitian staff on base.
We welcome volunteers based on their ability to contribute to the projects currently on-going in Haiti. That means that we need to know that you’re healthy enough to live and work in Haiti, ready and willing to work hard and take directions, and won’t face any challenge, physical or otherwise, that would inhibit your ability to work with us.
We invite anyone who is interested in volunteering with us in Port-au-Prince to get involved using the following steps:
Step 1: Do your research!
You are required to read:
- Newcomer’s Guide
- Indemnity Form
- About Haiti Communitere Page
- Data Protection Policy
- The CDC’s Guide for Travelers to Haiti
- Your Country’s Travel Warnings for Haiti
We know it’s a lot of reading, but these documents will provide you with important information about what it is like to volunteer in Haiti and what will be expected of you as a member of the Haiti Communitere team.
Step 2: Contact us with additional questions
After you’ve reviewed all of the documents listed above and carefully considered all the information they contain, feel free to contact us at volunteer@haiti.communitere.org with any more questions you might have.
If you’ve carefully reviewed all the information presented above, contacted us to have any general questions answered, and feel certain that volunteering in Haiti is for you, then its time to move on to the next step and register.
Step 3: Register to volunteer in Haiti
Once you register, a member of our team will contact you to confirm that there is space for you to come on your desired dates or reschedule your trip if we don’t have space.
By registering, you are confirming that you have read all of the documents in Step 1 and taken into account all the information they contain, particularly regarding the risks you’ll take traveling to Haiti and addressed any further concerns you have via email.

Step 4: Confirm
After you’ve done your reading and registered, we’ll be able to confirm whether or not we can offer you a place at Haiti Communitere.
Registration will only be complete once you have confirmed your arrival by sending us your flight details, insurance information, and emergency contacts. We will then provide you with all the information you need to get ready to come and join us in Haiti.
